Rehabilitation

Examinations and therapies to assist your pet in recovering from injuries.

Throughout your pet’s lifetime, they might develop injuries, orthopedic surgeries or undergo surgeries they need to recuperate from. The goal of rehabilitation is to help your pet recover, with the help of therapeutic treatments. If you’re interested in learning more about how we can help your pet with our treatments, please contact us at 604-464-6666.

What can I expect during rehabilitation?

Before we start rehabilitation, we’ll assess your pet to determine which treatments will work best to support their needs. This includes a physical exam and review of your pet’s medical history. Rehabilitation could be combined with your pet’s existing medication and supplements. Once we’ve developed a rehabilitation plan for your furry friend, it will include a series of treatments, including exercises, to increase mobility and improve their quality of life.

What types of exercises do you incorporate?

Depending on the part of your pet’s body our recovery efforts are focused on, we’ll do a range of exercises targeted at that area. Some of these could include:

  • Using supplemental tools to support with stretches
  • Supporting your pet to rotate and extend their joints
  • Using a range of motion, including walking forwards and backward
  • Moving through pine cones
  • Using weights as resistance
  • Applying pressure or heat to affected areas

What happens after the appointment?

The amount of time your pet will need rehabilitation depends on the extent of their injury and how well they’re responding to the treatments. We’ll assess your pet throughout the process to ensure we stay up-to-date with their care needs. It’s also important to follow up with any exercises or activities our veterinary team recommends your pet do at home. This will help support their recovery in the long run.
